Kojic Acid

Cleansers are rinsed off and are usually selected by facial or body use. Toners and pads are leave-on steps used after cleansing. Serums add another targeted layer, while creams and wrapping masks sit later in the routine. Body sprays, peels and washes need to be compared separately from facial products because area, package size and directions differ.

Choose within one format before comparing across the collection. A larger body wash is not a substitute for a facial serum, and a pre-soaked pad is not automatically stronger than a toner. The product directions and full formula should guide frequency.

Several products combine kojic acid with turmeric or niacinamide, and some formats are positioned around peeling or resurfacing. These combinations can change the intended use and tolerance of the product. Do not assume that two products with kojic acid can be layered without considering the rest of their formulas.

When exfoliating ingredients appear in multiple steps, simplify the routine and follow the label. Sunscreen is a separate daytime requirement for UV protection and should not be replaced by a brightening product.

Cosmetic products may be marketed for brighter or more even-looking tone, but that wording should not be converted into a promise of bleaching, permanent lightening or treatment of a medical condition. Results vary by formula, use pattern and the source of discoloration.
